The Exchange Club of Highline has completed their annual Backpack Distribution! Every year, in August, the Exchange Club delivers Backpacks filled with school supplies to schools in the Highline/Tukwila area. This year 825 Backpacks were delivered to 18 local schools. Each school also got a box filled with 500 pencils.
The Exchange Club also provided the Des Moines Food Bank with Backpacks for their weekend food distribution program. Each weekday, children on the free and reduced lunch program get their breakfast and/or lunch at school. When the weekend arrives, they are provided with a Backpack filled with food for the weekend.
The Exchange Club would like to thank the North Highline Fire Department for their help in unloading the trucks filled with backpacks and school supplies.
Finally, the Exchange Club would especially like to express their appreciation to the Burien Fred Meyer for giving the club discount prices on the supplies that went into the backpacks. Fred Meyer has partnered with the Exchange club for over 10 years. Without their help we could not deliver as many filled Backpacks as we do.
